Root Canal Treatment in Mumbai
Persistent tooth pain or sensitivity may need an examination to find the cause. If the tooth’s inner tissue is affected, root canal treatment may be discussed as one way to treat it and preserve the tooth. The number of visits and restoration needed depends on the diagnosis, tooth and treatment plan.
Tooth pain or an infected tooth may lead to a recommendation for root canal treatment. The aim is to treat the infection inside a tooth that can be restored, helping retain it instead of extracting it. Not every painful tooth needs a root canal.
Consultation fee: ₹1,500 one time.

When a root canal may be discussed
Understand the source of the pain
Symptoms alone do not confirm the diagnosis. Examination and imaging help determine what treatment is appropriate. We review pain, sensitivity, earlier treatment and health history, then examine the tooth and arrange imaging when indicated. Not every painful tooth requires a root canal.
Assessment also considers whether enough structure and support remain to restore the tooth after treatment. Preservation and replacement choices are discussed where relevant. Single-visit treatment may be possible in some cases; others need more than one visit.

Review when discomfort occurs and how long it lasts.
Tooth health
Deep decay or prior injury

Discuss root canal treatment and the restoration needed afterward.
Treatment steps
Plan for root canal treatment and restoration
Your dentist will explain the diagnosis, procedure, expected visits, restoration, risks and aftercare. A crown or other restoration may be recommended depending on how much tooth structure remains.
Root canal treatment removes affected internal tissue, cleans the canals and seals the tooth. An appropriate restoration protects the treated tooth; some teeth need a crown depending on their condition.
We explain the procedure, suitable comfort measures, alternatives and expected appointments. The final restoration is part of the discussion rather than an unexpected later decision.

When a single sitting root canal may be discussed
Root canal cost, single-sitting treatment and the final tooth
Suitable cases may be treated in one sitting. Other teeth, retreatment or clinical findings may require more appointments. Completing the canals and placing the final filling or crown can be separate steps; confirm the entire sequence rather than the canal visit alone.
The ₹1,500 consultation is separate from treatment. Your written estimate should identify canal treatment, any core build-up, final filling or crown and reviews, including any part charged separately. Ask what protection the tooth needs afterwards and how soon it should be completed.

Timelines for Root Canal
During root canal treatment, the infected pulp is carefully removed. The root canals are then cleaned, shaped, disinfected, filled, and sealed to prevent re-infection. This helps preserve the natural tooth and may avoid the need for extraction in many cases.
Traditionally, root canal treatment may require more than one visit, especially when the infection is severe. However, in suitable cases, a single-visit or one-day root canal treatment may be possible. This can be beneficial for patients with busy schedule, dental anxiety, or those seeking faster relief from tooth pain.
Root Canal Treatment
Success of Root Canal
After root canal treatment, the tooth no longer contains vital pulp tissue, but it remains supported by living bone and periodontal tissues and can continue to function. A root canal-treated tooth may be more susceptible to fracture mainly because it has often already lost tooth structure from decay, cracks, previous restorations and the access required for treatment. The risk depends on the amount of remaining tooth structure and the forces placed on the tooth.

Root canal FAQs
Before your appointment
Does tooth pain always need a root canal?
No. Several conditions can cause pain. An examination is needed before choosing treatment.
Can a root canal be done in one visit?
Some cases may be completed in one visit; others need more than one. Your clinician will explain the expected schedule.
Will the tooth need a crown?
That depends on the remaining tooth structure and bite. Ask which restoration is recommended and why.
